The eight-meter series supports a range of analyses in clinical laboratory testing
Life sciences company Thermo Fisher Scientific has unveiled the Orion Pro Star Electrochemistry Bench Meter series for electrochemistry analysis.
“The Orion Pro Star Electrochemistry Bench Meter series was developed with customer input to balance advanced functionality with ease of use, helping empower users of all skill levels to confidentially achieve their analytical goals,” said Thermo Fisher vice president and general manager of growth, protection and separation Thomas Doerdelmann.
The Orion Pro Star series is suitable for various industries, including clinical laboratory testing, where eight electrochemistry bench meters support a range of analyses. Each meter features IP-54-rated dust- and water-resistant housing for demanding lab environments.
The Orion Pro Star series offers up to three measurement channels and three measurement modes—continuous, auto-read and timed-read—to adapt to diverse testing scenarios.
Designed to save space in the laboratory, the series features a vertical meter orientation and freestanding electrode holder. The electrode holder provides flexible bench placement and improved cable management, making it adaptable to the laboratory.
Each meter includes a touchscreen offering operational guidance features such as setup assistance, guided navigation, step-by-step calibration assistance, on-screen prompts, helpful icons and troubleshooting support.
“When procedures are not executed properly, labs risk errors that can lead to non-compliance, wasted resources or even compromised safety,” said Doerdelmann.

This level of assistance helps in the comprehensive reporting required in many laboratories. With the series, data can be tailored to specific requirements and exported quickly and easily for analysis.
Supporting this analysis are flexible measurement options, with parameter offerings including pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, ion concentration, and multi-parameter models.
Simultaneous analyses are possible due to the meters’ three measurement channels. The channels are adaptable for different workflows through three modes—continuous, auto-read and timed-read.
